Regulatory
Oil and Gas: We have outstanding experience serving petroleum exploration and production companies, service companies and suppliers involved in the petroleum and gas production chain. We have a team dedicated to this area who work on a daily basis structuring transactions (in Brazil and abroad), preparing and reviewing petroleum and gas industry contracts and analyzing regulatory and customs issues, with a focus on the customs methods particular to this industry.
Maritime and Navigation: We have broad experience serving Brazilian shipping companies, helping clients with regulatory matters and day-to-day tax and customs issues. Our work is recognized by various industry participants, with a focus on marine support, cabotage and port support. We also have a solid reputation for our work supporting the shipbuilding industry, working with a number of Brazilian shipyards.
Electric Power: We have broad experience in the electric power industry and provide advice in the tax, corporate and contractual areas to our clients who are regulated by the National Electric Power Agency (Agência Nacional de Energia Elétrica), or ANEEL, including electric power generation, transmission, commercialization and distribution companies (including self-producers and clean energy producers).
Telecommunications: We advise clients in the telecommunications sector, including large players and medium and small providers. Our professionals working with the industry have extensive experience in major operations involving mobile telephony, MVNO, IoT, pay TV, submarine cables, data centers, IRUs, satellite capacity, among others, and provide cunsultancy in the Tax area, Regulatory, Corporate, Civil and Contractual, in addition to Civil and Tax Litigation (including contributions under the supervision of ANATEL). In addition, we work technically with the associations of companies in the sector in the main themes, theses and legislative changes relevant to the industry.
Central Bank: We advise individual and corporate clients on matters related to the Brazilian Central Bank. This work includes preparing returns for the Census of Brazilian Capital Abroad and the Census of Foreign Capital in Brazil; obtaining Brazilian corporate taxpayer ID numbers (CNPJ) for foreign investors through the CADEMP system; registering, recording and updating information for companies receiving foreign capital and for foreign investors using the RDE-IED module; registering transactions in the RDE-ROF module; and legal consulting on related matters.
Intellectual Property: We advise our clients on a broad range of intellectual property matters, representing them before government agencies concerned with intellectual property, in particular the National Institute for Intellectual Property (Instituto Nacional de Propriedade Industrial), or INPI. Our intellectual property work includes negotiating and preparing contracts related to intellectual property, such as licensing, franchise and technology distribution and transfer agreements, as well as representing our clients in administrative proceedings before the INPI.
