Corporate Sustainability
Pursuing initiatives and projects that are part of our Firm’s day-to-day work is an element of our culture. We work to make people aware that each person’s actions influence the whole.
We invest in activities that have macro-level results, such as supporting environmental conservation entities, without overlooking day-to-day activities that, taken as a whole, make the difference.
Because the nature of our Office’s activity means we handle a large volume of lawsuits, one of our first actions was to establish conscientious use of paper. All our offices use paper with the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) seal. The FSC establishes standards for forestry management, chain of custody, and tracked wood for companies that use wood as a raw material. We also prioritize sending documents digitally, helping to reduce paper use.
We know that plastic cups take up to 50 years to decompose. This has an enormous impact on the environment. More than 300 people work in our Firm, so we decided to replace plastic cups with ceramic mugs. This program prevents over 300,000 plastic cups being discarded into the environment every year.
Recycling is as important as the conscientious use of nonbiodegradable material. That’s why our Firm has also invested in sustainability activities that involve our suppliers. Reverse logistics for batteries, coffee capsules, and printer cartridges ensure the reuse of raw materials and a sustainable and ecologically correct production cycle.
LASTING INICIATIVE FOR EARTH INSTITUTE (LIFE)
Gaia Silva Gaede Advogados was the first corporate entity to have its environmental activities certified by the Life Institute. This certificate recognizes and acknowledges organizations that incorporate biodiversity into their management, offsetting their impacts through voluntary sustainability activities.

ZERO PAPER PROJECT
A large part of our physical files were digitized, supporting migration to a digital system. Investments in technology and innovation made it possible to move forward with this project. We plan to become fully digital in the next few years.
PUBLIC SQUARE VOLUNTEER PROJECT
Making cities more sustainable is one of the major challenges of our time and requires activities that encourage positive change in our surroundings. With a view towards sustainability and thinking about measures that promote energy efficiency and the conservation of natural resources, Gaia Silva Gaede Advogados has adopted Largo Desidério Erasmo Rotterdam Square, in Curitiba.
Our Firm has revitalized this nearly 3,000 square meter public square. The new project was inaugurated in 2020 and includes public lighting, a playground adapted for children with disabilities, a gym, landscaping, a community library, a walking path, and space for socializing.
To provide regular maintenance and cleaning for the area, in September 2020 our Firm created the Public Square Volunteer Project. This project allows those who work at the Firm to help take care of gardening and composting, structural maintenance, cleaning, and conservation in the square.
By adopting the square, our Firm positioned itself within the community, reinforcing the action plan to change the world with Agenda 2030, contributing to ODS 03 (health and well-being) and ODS 11 (sustainable cities and communities). Gaia Silva Gaede Advogados received the 2020/21 Green Hand Award (Prêmio Mãozinha Verde) for this project.
CLEAN ENERGY PROJECT
SEALS AND LIDS COLLECTION PROJECT
