She performs outstanding work before appellate courts in Rio de Janeiro (Federal Regional Appellate Court for the Second Region and the Rio de Janeiro State Appellate Court) and São Paulo (the São Paulo State Appellate Court) and before the federal administrative appeals board (CARF).

Raphael Andrade is partner in the Tax Consulting area at our Rio de Janeiro office. He takes a multidisciplinary approach and has over five years’ experience working in the administrative tax litigation area at the state level and in tax consulting with a focus on indirect taxes, particularly concerning the brick-and-mortar and e-commerce retail sale of merchandise. He also works with the analysis and application of new business methods conducted over the Internet, such as the use of marketplace platforms, content available through download and transactions with digital currencies.

Leonardo Gusmão advises in the Tax Litigation area at our Rio de Janeiro office. He focuses on administrative and judicial litigation at the municipal, state and federal levels and has over 14 years’ experience in this area. He represents his clients with a high level of dedication before administrative appeals boards such as the CARF and has broad experience with oral arguments before the main courts, such as the Rio de Janeiro Court of Justice and the Federal Regional Appellate Court for the First and Second Region.

Mr. Gusmão is a member of the Special Committee for Tax Matters of the Rio de Janeiro Section of the Brazilian Bar Association, of the Brazilian Association for Financial Law (ABDF) and of the International Fiscal Association (IFA). He also represents clients before the Treasury Secretariats and before various administrative appeals boards, including the Rio de Janeiro State Taxpayers’ Board (CC/RJ), the São Paulo State Taxes and Fees Appeals Board (TIT/SP) and the State Tax Administrative Appeals Board (TATE/PE). He provides tax consulting, particularly regarding the ICMS, ISS and IPI taxes.
